Behavior Plan
Classroom Rules Agreement:
Students are given agency regarding the rules that will enable them to communicate and work safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Students are also given multiple opportunities to assimilate to the expected code of conduct within the classroom as per the 6th rule: "It's ok to make mistakes." They are given three chances:
The first offense is considered a mistake. The student reflects using a provided questionnaire to determine what they will do to self-correct any behavior causing the problem. Students also have the opportunity to ask for assistance to help follow the rule, such as agreed hand signals to indicate a calming corner or movement break required during the lessons.
The second offense is considered their reminder as they may have forgotten. The student is given the opportunity to review their self-correction strategy and ask for assistance.
The third offense is no longer considered a mistake, resulting in a final warning. At this point, the student acknowledges that they know the rule and is choosing to break it. The student is fully aware that if the particular rule is broken again, the student will be held responsible and accountable for choosing to break the agreed rule. The student is given another opportunity to review their self-correction strategy and ask for assistance. The student determines the consequence that will take place if the rule is broken again.
Note:
The classroom is a safe space; therefore, there is zero tolerance for intentional bullying and violence. These offenses are made clear to the students. Students are also informed that offenses that involve bullying and violence are immediately reported to the principal.
