Teaching Portfolio
Rania Elmankhly
Hi! My name is Rania. Welcome to my online teaching portfolio.
I am a multicultural and multilingual educator with seven years of elementary teaching experience in American and British primary education programs in New York and Cairo, Egypt. Equipped with a Master's of Science in Education, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and years of experience in Database management, Human Resources, and Customer Service, the breadth of my educational and professional background allows me to appreciate the power of education and its role in unlocking human potential. Furthermore, as an educator with a diverse cultural, educational, and professional background, I possess a skill set and perspective that allows me to prepare students for engaged global citizenship through unprecedented, complex, and accelerated changes in the world by combining a global curriculum based on a universal design for learning, choice of language immersion, inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning with cutting edge technology, and a culture of creativity and deep collaboration.
In my years of classroom teaching experience, I have gained a plethora of pedagogical knowledge and developed effective, high-quality, evidence-based teaching methods. I am a proactive, creative, tech-savvy, and resourceful teacher who is intuitive and empathetic to the diverse school community's perspectives and backgrounds. I strive to ensure my classroom and practices are anti-racist and inclusive by constantly reflecting and finding ways to improve and enable the students. For example, I analyze students' assignments to identify how my differentiated instruction reached—and didn't reach—all of the students and use that data to plan or replan further instruction. I recognize and seize on the brilliance of underrepresented students' contributions to a class discussion. Rather than assume that the students aren't motivated or sufficiently prepared to engage with challenging material, I look for patterns and incorporate different teaching strategies and resources that offer access to the content.
